Conclusion
Edmonton was established as a trade route town, located along the North Saskatchewan it was easy for traders to get places. Another reason is because of the oil-sands, which was later discovered, although a few people had inspected it in the mid-1700's but it never became important until oil had a higher value. Edmonton has evolved and expanded a lot over time, as would any city, by population growth. With population growth comes more residential areas, expanding the city, more jobs, more expanse.
I would live here, it seems like a nice city with a decent economy and just outside of this city are many natural areas, such as parks for camping. This city is quite liveable but may not be sustainable for too much longer because of it's habits with the oil industry and forestry, reducing its natural resources as well as polluting the Athabasca river until it destroys itself. This city shows little sign of progress with trying to stop the oil sands thus far. What makes it liveable is the job opportunities, transportation, and also many parks and recreational spaces and events.
